Introducing our Kids’ yoga teacher
Carla has worked in the Dance industry as a professional dancer and choreographer with over 20 years’ experience specialising in contemporary, jazz, fusion, urban dance, ballet and Latin. Her career took her overseas, working on cruise liners and in The West End and she also worked in the commercial industry performing in over 22 music videos. For Artists such as kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams, Spice girls, Morcheeba, Roman Keating, JLS etc. Carla is also the Principle of The Academy of Future Stars Theatre School she has built and run the business for 10 years, and is very proud of her school.
Carla’s career naturally progressed into the dance and fitness industry and saw her teaching a multitude of dance and fitness classes across the South. In more recent years her emphasis and passions have been Yoga. Carla has practiced Yoga for many years and holds a IYN (international yoga network) teaching diploma as well as a PGCE certificate in education. After her teacher training at Unity Yoga in Brighton, the diversity of the training has given Carla the opportunity to teach a wide variety of Yoga styles in the UK and abroad on Retreats that she runs in the U.K. and a world class resort in Suryalilia in Spain. Her styles include Hatha, Yoga Flow, Vinyasa, hot Yoga, family Yoga, seated yoga for stroke patients and meditation.
Carla finds teaching her children and family yoga sessions extremely rewarding, her recent appointment has seen her teaching in children’s homes. Her natural healing ability and fun personality brings joy to the children. Her approach is that “Yoga is fun for all, the children and families learn that everyone falls and everyone gets up and tries again. There is no competition no judgement and all participants are encouraged to move forward at their own pace. Each child is honoured and inclusive, the environment is one of support and respect”
Her yoga practice is suitable for beginners or advanced yogis as she differentiates the practice to suit all needs, using body postures, attention to breath, mediation, positive affirmations and chanted sounds giving the participants an increased sense of wellbeing and a greater capacity for joyful living.
